Stakhanov, Luhansk Oblast

Stakhanov ((ウクライナ語:Стаханoв); (ロシア語:Стаханoв)) is a city in the Luhansk Oblast (province) of eastern Ukraine. The city is designated as its own separate raion (district) within the oblast.
the population is around 122,000.〔
==History==
The city is named after the famous Soviet miner Alexey Stakhanov, who started his career there. From 1937 to 1940 the city was named Sergo ((ウクライナ語:Серго)), and before 1937 and from 1940 to 1978 the city was known as Kadievka ((ロシア語:Кадиевка)), or Ukrainian Kadiyivka ((ウクライナ語:Кадіївка)). A labor camp for German prisoners of war was established at Stakhanov during the Second World War.
The city's economy depends on a railway car building works, ferroalloy plant and coal mines.
Starting Mid-April 2014 pro-Russian separatists captured several towns in Donetsk Oblast;〔http://www.newrepublic.com/article/117387/putin-accidentally-helping-unite-eastern-and-western-ukraine〕〔http://en.itar-tass.com/world/735082〕 they took over Stakhanov on 2 May 2014.〔https://news.pn/en/incidents/103133〕〔https://news.pn/en/politics/103050〕 On 22 July 2014 a rally was held that demanded that the pro-Russian separatists should leave the town.〔https://news.pn/en/criminal/109738〕
According to reports on September 16 2014, the city, which had been occupied by Lugansk People's Republic-affiliated Don Cossacks, seceded from the LPR on 14 September. It was said Don Cossacks there proclaimed the Republic of Stakhanov, and that a "Cossack government" now ruled in Stakhanov.〔 However the following day this was claimed to be a fabrication, and an unnamed Don Cossack leader stated the September 14 meeting had, in fact, resulted in 12,000 Cossacks volunteering to join the LPR forces.
